Skyyler Barron, a fine young man who made the Ronald McDonald House his second home brought joy and humor everywhere he went.
Here is his story...
Diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a form of cancer that started off in his right kidney and became wrapped around his three major arteries, Skyyler Barron was a fighter and a survivor and only 4 years old. Since his family first learned of his cancer April 1, 2003, he endured biopsies, radiation treatments, chemotherapy, and a bone marrow transplant. His spinal cord and vital organs remained cancer-free for quite some time, but there were lingering traces of it in his arms and legs.
Skyyler's family, the Barrons, are from Missoula, Montana.
Prior to treatments Angie, Skyyler's mom, loaded the car in Missoula and drove to the Spokane or Seattle Ronald McDonald House. They spent many days and months in Spokane for Skyyler's treatment at Sacred Heart Medical Center. They stayed at the Ronald McDonald House and credit the staff and the entire organization with helping them keep their sanity during their extremely difficult times. "We're very grateful to the Ronald McDonald House...." Angie Barron said. A tough fighter, Skyyler was in and out of Hospice 3 times, each time graduating to the amazement of his family, friends and medical team. Skyyler engaged everyone he met with his compelling story and engaging personality.
In early 2011, Skyyler entered Hospice for a 4th and final time,
losing his well fought eight year battle with cancer on
February 26, 2011.
