Isaac's Story

Isaac was due to come into the world on December 3rd. However, his entrance into this world was not a typical one. Isaac had gastroschisis, which means his bowel was growing outside of his abdominal wall. His mother was flown to Deaconess Hospital in fear of losing him on October 10th. Isaac had his first surgery immediately. His mother met him the next day. Isaac has endured three surgeries with possibly more to come.

His mother and two year old sister have made the Ronald McDonald House their home-away-from-home. His mother Angeles said, "I just don't know what we would have done if the Ronald McDonald House didn't exist. I am very, very, thankful to everybody here. Not only do they give you a place to live while going through your hard time but they also help you with cash for food. The volunteers are nice, but best of all they are always there to listen and encourage you."

Even though she is going through a very tough time, Angeles was able to give some words of encouragement to other parents. She said, "All I can say is have faith in God and don't let anything or anybody put you down. All that matters is for your patient to get better. I have cried so much ever since I found out my baby was sick when I was four months pregnant. Now I am hopeful that my baby will be better soon and going home to his family. This situation is only helping me to be stronger and thankful."
